The body has a feedback mechanism for danger and intelligent action is immediate but it seems the mind has no such feedback and perpetuates activities which actually denies physical security for most human beings. (All the while speaking about democracy, freedom, etc).

My only solace sometimes is the awareness that the energy base (oil) for industrial civilization is declining and at some point the entire thing will collapse.
